Supporting children for 22 years

St John’s Health Centre in Ghana

St John’s HU treats a large community of children

Since our visit in 2004, St John’s has grown in catchment area and staff. They have around 20 nurses and 11 midwives. The clinic has seen a rise in contagious skin infections. It is the 5th most common condition that needs to be treated at the health unit. This infection is spreading amongst young children.

Inter Care has been supporting the clinic for over two decades

Over the years, we have seen changes at the clinic. The needs have been slightly different, from needing nebulisers, many antibiotics and PPE. The health unit is in Domeabra where Malaria cases are the most common.

St John’s are running successfully with Inter Care’s support

St John’s continues to order surgical gloves, antibiotics and dressings from Inter Care. The need is still great and the donations are helping to decrease the spread of infections and reduce the pain in young children and vulnerable adults. The midwives are now delivering 80 safe and successful babies a month.
