On Friday 5th December 2025 we are celebrating International Volunteer Day! We want to use this day as an opportunity to recognise the incredible achievements of our team of volunteers and how their contribution has supported Inter Care’s mission to reduce waste and to save lives in sub Saharan Africa.

In 2012 Inter Care was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. We received this because of our dedication and impact to international society driven by voluntary service from our community. Since then we have grown as a charity and there is even more to celebrate.
We recently came together as a community with a skittles event to celebrate our ongoing achievements. It was lovely to see volunteers, staff and trustees getting together and enjoying a fun filled evening (Although some questionable throwing skills were displayed!).
A big thank you to everyone who came along!
Over the past month we have been interveiwing some volunteers to understand their motivations for dedicating so much of their time to Inter Care. Read just some of our volunteers testimonies below:
“Volunteering at Inter Care is rewarding and sociable, you are part of an amazing community. When you pack the goods, you know whoever opens it will really need it.”
~ Helena & Sylvia (Warehouse Volunteers)
“Volunteering is a win/win. People at the receiving end get the things they desperately need and we get to socialise and support a worthy cause. We as a nation, have so much health support. We are so lucky that if we can share just a little part of it with people who really need it, we should.”
~ Lesley (Warehouse Volunteer)
“Volunteering has given me a real purpose during my retirement, I feel both valued and valuable at Inter Care. The charity is doing a great deal of good and saving people’s lives. I am honoured to contribute to that.“
~John (Office Volunteer)
“Inter Care is a very effective and efficient charity. The volunteers are so important – you always feel so valued here”
~ Diane (Warehouse Volunteer)
If you are interested in volunteering at Inter Care, please feel free to get in touch on info@intercare.org.uk to join our community that are working hard to save lives in sub Saharan Africa. Whether you would like to join us in the warehouse sorting though medical supplies, in the office helping with recycling or fundraising or out and about speaking at events and running stalls. We love meeting new people and exploring how your individual strengths can help towards our mission!
