Making a difference in Malawi
This is the story of our faithful supporters and community, climbing on board to make a huge difference to the health of thousands of patients in sub-Saharan Africa who are living in extreme poverty.

On Thursday 16th July 2020, Inter Care packed up a 20ft shipping container of donated medical aid and sent it on its way to Malawi.
The container was due to leave in March this year, however, it was delayed with the UK in lockdown, flights stopped and the borders, closed. Now that things slowly return to some sort of normality, the team are back, working quickly to continue supporting lives in Africa.
The facts…
The consignment, which is made up of 100% donated surplus medical supplies is worth a massive £127,000. 40% of the contents are Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gloves, aprons etc.) which can support the health care workers of Malawi fight the coronavirus crisis.
The shipping container will stop at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Limbe, Malawi and from there, the Lead of the Hospital will distribute the medical aid to eight surrounding local rural health units.
Thank you to all our supporters who kindly donated to cover the transportation costs of the container. Furthermore, thank you to those who have donated the surplus medical aid to us. Without you, Inter Care cannot continue to support lives in Africa.
We would also like to thank; Henhurst Trust, Kate Farrer Foundation, St Marks Overseas Aid Trust and Austin Bailey Foundation, whose financial support made this project possible.
Finally, we extend our thanks to Laws Landscapes Fencing & Gate Manufacturer who assisted us in loading the container.
Next steps…
Our container will be going on an exciting journey via a variety of transportation types: lorry, ship/s, rail, and lorry to the Hospital.
When the medical aid reaches our partners at St Joseph’s Hospital, it will then cross the rural area by cars/vans to the eight rural health centres in southern Malawi.
Once we get updates on its safe arrival, we will be able to share the news with you all and hopefully have many images and stories to show you.
Until then…. Check out our “how you can help” page to see how you can support. To make a gift please click here. Thank you.
Best wishes
Inter Care team.
