Our latest container of medical supplies was sent on its way to Central Malawi in February 2025. Nkhamenya Mission hospital will be taking the lead and handle all arrangements for securing clearance of the consignment when it reaches its destination. The Hospital will also distribute the medical aid in equal shares to the four other participating health units. In total 5 Hospitals will benefit from the health care goods included on board.
The Total Value of goods on board the 20ft container is a record breaking £228,193.73 – with a combined weight of 4,810Kg.
On board we have the usual basic health care goods – such as bandages; dressings; needles; syringes; sutures; swabs; wipes; catheter/stoma supplies and dermatological goods – together with much needed items of PPE (including disposable aprons; coveralls; face masks; face shields; goggles; over shoes and surgical gloves) and uniforms/scrubs. There are some toiletries included like disinfectants and handwashes including some other medical devices like BP machines, stethoscope, ear thermometers and a good selection of laboratory consumables. Finally, there’s an assortment of medical textbooks; mobility aids (i.e. walking frames; walking sticks and crutches) – with the usual selection of hand knitted blankets; toys and children’s clothing to fill in the gaps. |
